Don't hesitate to contact a clergy member on Sunday before or after services
After speaking with the clergy about baptism, please reserve the agreed-upon date. Baptisms can be planned most Sundays of the year, however we do not perform baptisms during Lent or Advent.
FAQ
CAN WE HAVE A PRIVATE BAPTISM?
No. Baptisms must occur in the church community's presence, as we all welcome our new members and promise to guide and direct him or her in the faith.
DO GODPARENTS NEED TO BE PRESENT?
Ideally, Godparents will be present, but we understand that lives get busy and travel is not always possible. Godparents or sponsors are not required to attend the baptism but will still receive certificates to indicate they are Godparents. Please ensure the church has the appropriate names and addresses.
CAN PRIESTS FROM OTHER CHURCHES PARTICIPATE?
The Trinity clergy are always in charge of the service, but we will happily work with you and have outside clergy assist. The liturgy will always be from the Book of Common Prayer. Trinity must invite any other participants, so please consult with your Trinity priest before you extend an informal invitation.
IS THERE AN AGE RESTRICTION FOR BAPTISM?
No. We welcome people of all ages into the Episcopal family. For older children and adults, we do require consultation with a priest, so please consider that when planning your baptism date.
DO YOU DO RENAMING CEREMONIES?
Yes, we do renaming ceremonies. These are typically for non-binary and transgender individuals who have changed their names to live out their lives as their authentic selves. But we will discuss renaming ceremonies for other purposes, too.
WILL WE RECEIVE A BAPTISMAL CERTIFICATE?
Yes. At Trinity, it is traditional for a large Certificate of Baptism to be available for the congregation to sign on the occasion of Baptism. You will receive this certificate immediately after the service.
PLANNING YOUR WEDDING
CONTACT TRINITY
Please contact Trinity as soon as possible, even before you set a date. The Episcopal Church requires 30-60 days for a wedding. Counseling with the clergy is required and the calendar can fill up months in advance. Trinity is a very busy parish and while we try to accommodate each couple's preferred wedding/blessing date, it is important that you check with the Administrative Assistant, Angela Tilley, before announcing your date to ensure it is available. You may reach Angela via email by clicking the link above or call the church at 918.582.4128.
ARRANGE COUNSELING WITH THE CLERGY
Every priest has his or her own way of doing premarital counseling. Both the number of sessions and the content of the sessions will vary, but all priests at Trinity share a commitment to making sure the couple has a full understanding of the commitment they are making before God. Please contact Angela Tilley to arrange counseling.
CONSULT THE ORGANIST & DIRECTOR OF MUSIC
We do have certain guidelines when it comes to music for weddings and blessings. The main idea is to keep the music focused on the meaning of the ceremony. To this end, the couple should confer with the Choirmaster and Organist, Casey Cantwell, who plays all weddings and blessings. It is not traditional for the organist to attend the rehearsals so all details will need to be arranged in advance. Please contact him via the above link or by calling the church at 918.582.4128.
CONTINUE PLANNING YOUR BIG DAY!
There are so many little details to think about when planning your wedding. Below are some of the common questions we hear. Please do not hesitate to contact the staff, clergy or altar guild if you have questions not addressed here.
PLANNING A FUNERAL AT TRINITY
CONTACT THE CHURCH
Please contact Trinity as soon as possible to arrange a date. We understand that there are possible considerations of out-of-town family and friends and there is no immediate rush. We will work with you to find a date and time that works best for the circumstances. We will also provide you with a Funeral Planning Guide to help walk you through the steps of planning a funeral or memorial. You are welcome to work through this information with your priest when you meet.
ARRANGE A MEETING WITH THE CLERGY
Meeting or speaking on the phone with the clergy will be helpful step in gaining closure. The priest will help you select readings and make suggestions for the service. You are not required to come in personally but it may find it easier to plan. Should you prefer, the priest will be happy to make suggestions for the full service which you are free to amend or change.
CONSULT WITH THE ORGANIST & CHOIR DIRECTOR
We do have specific guidelines when it comes to music for funerals. While we require all music during the service to be non-secular, we are flexible in exactly what that means.
Meeting with the organist, Casey Cantwell, who plays at funerals, will help you choose the appropriate music for the service. If you wish to have secular music, the proper time would be at the reception.
